Tips to Avoiding the High Rental Charges

Majority of people do not consider car rental services for their expensive pricing. Due to the rising gasoline prices at the pump, the Car Rental prices have fluctuated really high. But people do not realize that most of things that occur in a rental bill happen due to hidden charges. The charges actually make half of your actual rental bill.

Many car rental agencies will not tell you about the optional hidden charges. You can save the money by looking for the agencies that do not include any hidden pricings. This article covers an in depth-review about the hidden charges and how you can avoid them.

Airport surcharges and taxes are included in the total car rental pricing. The service amounts to 10% of the total bill. The reason they charge you more is because of the airport taxes and concession fees. The rental agencies pay a concession fee to the airport management each time they work on airport rentals. The agency also needs to pay business taxes to the local government for providing airport car rentals.
Getting Around the Airport Charges
Majority of airports and the rental companies provide a free shuttle service with fixed routes. For removing this hidden charge from car rental bill, you can take benefit of the free service and have your car dropped at a location away from airport. This helps to reduce the car rental cost and you can avoid paying for the extra charges.
Collision Damage
Collision Damage or the Loss Damage Waiver charges Rs 1000- Rs 2500 extra per day to avoid liability for damages done against a rental car, given that it was not done due to negligence.
Many car insurance and credit card insurance provides rental cars as a part of their coverage. You need to check if an insurance company covers rental cars and if they do, you can talk to them to remove the Damage Waiver, or else you will end up wasting your money paying for collision damage on a regular insurance.

Paying for a Full Tank

Gasoline charges also look like a good idea. It is tempting to ride a car with a full tank so you no longer need to stop at gas stations along the way. But most of the renters do not consume a full tank. You do not get a refund even if you do not use all of the gas, but this can add penalties to your bill. This makes it cheaper for you to gas up your own rental car to pay for the amount of fuel you require.

Drop-off Charges

When dropping a car rental at a different location from where you pick it up, you can get charged at a drop-off fee. The fee changes from city to city. You can also drop the car off at places where the price is minimal as returning your car back in the same place may not be possible for you.

Early Return Fee

The early return fee is what the car rental agencies charge when renting car early. A car rental company can cost you Rs 1000 to Rs 1500 per day for early returns. In case this is not enough, they will also charge weekly rate and daily rate.

Return Fee

You not only need to pay for the early return fee, but also have to pay for the rate difference. To save yourself from paying hundreds of rupees, you can return your rental car on the exact date. Many hidden charges that the companies add to bill occur due to penalties  for breaking a rental policy. You must read the policy before opting for the car rentals.

Read the Car Rental Policy

You can also ask a car rental company to make sure everything is taken care off in the contract. This will help you to avoid the penalties and will keep the car rental costs to a minimum.
